The PPG is run by a group of volunteer parents from RSD. Our purpose is to: Represent the views of parents/carers, Support the school in creating a welcoming, supportive and inclusive environment, Promote partnership between school, families & the community, Hold events & carry out fundraising activities to support the school. Our fundraising activities pay for: school trips, Supporting school with the cost of outings and visitors to support educational objectives, Christmas gifts for pupils and teachers/staff, Additional educational and pupil support resources, Outdoor play equipment, Gifts for P7 leavers. We support all the children who attend our school, and their parents/carers. We also have dedicated peer support for parents of children with additional support needs. Every year our local community comes together to support the PPG with ideas, time and the promotion of its activities and we are proud to be part of such a special school & community.
Objectives: The purposes of the PPG as set out in the Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006[1], and related guidance[2] are to advance education and in furtherance of this, the PPG will: • Work in partnership with those managing and working in the school o to raise standards of education in the school, o to support improvements in the quality of education which the school provides, and o to develop to their fullest potential the personality, talents and abilities of the pupils attending the school, o to support positive mental health, wellbeing and resilience of all pupils and families. • Support a welcoming school community which is supportive and inclusive for all parents, pupils and staff • Promote partnership between the community, the school, its pupils and all parents • Develop and engage in activities which support the education and welfare of the pupils (including fundraising activities) • Be involved in the recruitment of senior staff, school inspections and the development of the School Improvement Planning (in line with PKC Guidance) • Represent the interests of the Parent Forum to the School and the Local Authority • Where required, set up sub-groups to enable any function, or element of any function, to be further developed.
