Activities

SWCA manages the St Werburghs Community Centre and promotes the benefit and social welfare of the local people in a common effort to advance health, education and good relationships. SWCA serves the communities of Inner City wards, which have the highest percentage of BME residents in Bristol and are ranked amongst the most deprived 10% nationally in terms of multiple deprivation.

Objects: 4. Objects The Charity's Objects (“Objects”) Are Specifically Restricted To The Following: 4.1 To Promote The Benefit Of The Inhabitants Of Bristol City Without Distinction Of Sex, Sexual Orientation, Age, Disability, Nationality, Race Or Of Political, Religious Or Other Opinions, By Associating Together The Said Inhabitants And The Statutory Authorities, Voluntary And Other Organisations In A Common Effort To Advance Education And Good Race Relations By Eliminating Discrimination And Encouraging Equality Of Opportunity Between Persons Of Different Group And To Provide Facilities In The Interests Of Social Welfare For Recreation And Leisure-Time Occupation With The Object Of Improving The Conditions Of Life For The Said Inhabitants; 4.2 To Establish, Or Secure The Establishment Of, A Community Centre And To Maintain And Manage The Same (Whether Alone Or In Co-Operation With Any Statutory Authority Or Other Person Or Body) In Furtherance Of The Objects; The Charity Shall Be Non-Party In Politics And Non-Sectarian In Religion. The Area Of Benefit Shall Be Bristol City And The Neighbourhood Together Defined By Bristol City Council Boundaries.
