Objectives: Purposes ILAG,s charitable purpose is the advancement of human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation through the development and improvement of legal aid and access to justice internationally by supporting the development of evidence-based policy making and research across a range of jurisdictions and countries, involving academic researchers, policy makers, funders and those responsible for the administration of legal aid services and access to justice. ILAG will seek to encourage and support innovations in legal aid systems. collaborate with other disciplines to place legal aid in a broader context. share its knowledge and expertise with interested stakeholders. and organise and participate in (national and international) conferences and projects related to legal aid access to justice. The improvement and development of legal aid and access to justice will better enable people in these countries and jurisdictions to defend, protect or enforce their rights, including those contained in: The Universal Declaration of Human Rights UN Sustainable Development Goals The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights The European Convention on Human Rights
