Broughtonknowe Community Woodland is a community-owned charity dedicated to protecting, enhancing and sharing a 100acre woodland in the Scottish Borders for the benefit of both people and nature. Its charitable purposes include conserving the woodland's natural heritage, promoting biodiversity, improving public access, and providing opportunities for education, recreation and health and wellbeing. The charity works with volunteers and local partners to maintain paths, improve habitats, support wildlife, and create welcoming spaces where people of all ages can connect with and learn about nature. Through sustainable woodland management, environmental education and community participation, it aims to safeguard the woodland for future generations while encouraging learning, volunteering, outdoor recreation and stronger community connections. The woodland is managed as a long-term community asset that supports biodiversity, wellbeing and local resilience.

Objectives: 6 In particular the purposes of the Company shall be: 6.1 the advancement of environmental protection or improvement, through: i. conserving the natural heritage of the woodland, its flora and fauna. and ii. managing the woodland in a sustainable manner and promoting biodiversity. 6.2 the advancement of education and the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended, through: iii. providing and improving access, information and facilities for people using the woodlands. and iv. promoting the woodlands as an educational, recreational and health and wellbeing resource to the local community. 6.3 the advancement of citizenship or community development, through: v. encouraging voluntary participation in the work of conservation and maintenance of the woodland.
