Starfish Way provides support to the region’s most vulnerable young people struggling with mental health, poverty and inequality who, without intervention, face negative life destinations. Our holistic programmes promote positive mental and physical health, provides education, independent living skills and employability support to maximise positive and sustainable life outcomes. Responding to the changing needs of young people with additional support needs (ASN), we tailor programmes to equip with the confidence and resilience to be happy and thrive. These personalised programmes are the foundation for unlocking positive, independent and financially secure futures.
Objectives: Purposes To advance the physical and mental well-being of young people by promoting a range of Awards and experiences including the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. To assist young people, especially those facing barriers, to participate in activities and Awards that meet their needs. To offer bespoke activities and Awards for young people. To help provide opportunities to young people to develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in life. To provide practical support and encouragement to adults who support young people in these purposes. To promote the opportunities of the Award, and other experiences we provide, using a variety of strategies including our website, distance learning hub, and social media. To help independent participants not attached to particular Award units. To find ways to share, recognise and celebrate the success of the young people and adults that support them. To evaluate the quality and impact of our endeavours to improve what we do and to provide accountability. To share good practice to improve support for young people elsewhere. To seek and consolidate partnership working in support of our purposes.
