'the advancement of education','the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science'

Our charity is set up to tell the story of the Roman site of Trimontium and the wider story of the Romans in Scotland. We do this by running an independent museum in Melrose which exhibits finds from the Roman Iron Age and by a number of outreach activities including lectures, talks, publications and community archaeology.

Beneficiaries: 'No specific group, or for the benefit of the community'

Objectives: Purposes 2 The Trust's purposes are: 2.1 Advancing the education of the public and increasing knowledge and community awareness of the site of the Roman fort at Newstead Melrose and the associated Roman Iron Age in Southern Scotland. 2.2 Collecting and conserving archaeological material from the Roman Iron Age and presenting it in a local museum and. 2.3 Contributing to the development of the central Scottish Borders community by engagement in this important local history and advancing such similar charitable purposes as the Trustees may consider appropriate from time to time to further the objects in paragraphs 2.1 and 2.2.
