The objects of the club are to advance the education of the public in the history and heritage of Galashiels and its environs and in furtherance thereof the club shall seek to: a) encourage the research & study of Galashiels and the surrounding area b) maintain& increase the club's collection of objects of local interest c) undertake research work in the local history field, to publish results where appropriate and to cooperate fully with the countrywide projects appropriate to a local history association d) cooperate fully on matters of mutual interest with other local history groups and museums both local and national.
