SCOT aims to benefit the public by contributing to the advancement of standards in orthopaedic and trauma care in Scotland. We do this principally by arranging conferences and other events in order that medical professionals may further their education and exchange information on practices and developments in this area.
Objectives: * 4.1 To promote excellence in orthopaedic and trauma care in Scotland for the benefit of the people of Scotland and global health * 4.2 To support inclusion, diversity and equality within the specialty of orthopaedics in Scotland * 4.3 To be a forum for discussion between the consultant surgeons (including locums) and specialty grade doctors working in orthopaedics and trauma in Scotland. * 4.4 To respond to requests for information on matters relating to orthopaedics and trauma in Scotland from the Scottish Parliament. * 4.5 To particularly consider professional practice and service provision, including clinical governance and quality issues, but also to act as a forum for discussion of issues in education and training (whilst recognising that the responsibility for these elements lies with other bodies) * 4.6 To support ongoing service development in collaboration with Scottish Orthopaedics Service Development Group (SOSDG) * 4.7 To act as a central reference point in data collection, both for staffing and workload (with projected changes), and to act as an umbrella organisation for structures such as a Scottish Arthroplasty Register. * 4.8 To Link with partner organisations including the British Orthopaedic Association and NHS Education for Scotland.
