TIS is a national membership organisation committed to supporting tenants and housing organisations to collaborate on solutions that make housing better. We work to ensure tenants’ rights are central to decision making and support housing colleagues to strengthen their tenant participation and engagement practices.

Objectives: 4 TIS's objects are: 4.1 to advance education. 4.2 to advance community development and citizenship. and 4.3 to relieve those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage, through (but not limited to): (a) the provision of advice, information, training and practical support on housing, scrutiny and community development matters with a view to strengthening local and national tenants and residents organistions who work towards the improvement of the rights of tenants and residents. (b) bringing together the representatives of tenants and residents groups to co-operate with a view to empowering tenants and residents and achieving a better standard of living for such tenants and residents and in carrying out such objects, TIS shall seek to oppose discrimination and to promote equal opportunities in the conduct of the affairs of TIS regardless of religious belief, age, colour, race, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, political affiliation or ethnic origin.
