Activities

'It carries out activities or services itself'

'the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended'

A Men’s Shed is a community-based, non-profit, non-commercial organisation accessible to all individuals providing a safe, friendly and healing environment where people are able to work on meaningful projects at their own pace in their own time in the company of other people. We aim to provide a supportive environment for people to gather, volunteer, work, teach, learn and seek fellowship with other like-minded people. We are a group who meet weekly to talk and do some wood work or other practical activities. While our principal aim is to provide recreational activities, we hope to help older people overcome social isolation and loneliness. There is a recognised need for more opportunities for older people, particularly men, to take part in activities locally.

Beneficiaries: 'No specific group, or for the benefit of the community'

Objectives: The provision of recreational facilities or the organisation of recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life of the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended, and only in relation to recreational facilities or activities which are: (i) primarily intended for persons who have need of them by reason of their age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage, or (ii) available to members of the public at large or to male or female members of the public at large.
