Clydebank Musical Society (CMS) is a community based charitable organisation with a thriving membership of over 130 people from many areas of West Dunbartonshire. Ages range from 8 – 80+. CMS was founded in 1981 and has produced quality musical shows for the local community, providing an affordable theatrical experience for both members and audiences alike in an area with multiple deprivation zones. An estimated 2600 people benefit from the experiences, including, but not limited to better mental health, fitness, socialising, building confidence and working together as a team. The wider community, friends and family also get involved through various fundraising events like carol singing, social evenings, sponsored walks and coffee mornings. Each production has a budget of over £30000 of which only 65% of the income is raised through ticket sales. The rest of the money is raised through membership fees, fundraising and sponsorship.
Objectives: To educate the public in the dramatic and operatic arts, and to further the development of public appreciation and taste in the said arts.
