The 'Central Scotland Chinese Elderly Project' (CSCEP) was first developed in 1995 to support older Chinese living in the Forth Valley area. It enabled them to meet and socialise to talk about their shared cultural heritage (Language, customs, Festive days). Such meetings alleviated language isolation and loneliness, educated members to Council services availability, enabled information sharing and supported a stable mental health status. This Project was first developed by the Central Regional Council after a 'Needs Assessment' exercise. It began as a service purposed to meet hospitality, social and information needs but it has been expanded since the Covid!9 Pandemic, to include activities such as walks, physical strengthening exercises and dancing to encourage physical movements, aiming to improve the mental health of our ageing members. It is envisaged that these activities may decrease the burden on the NHS as well as improving the Quality of Life of beneficiaries.

Objectives: The objects of the Project shall be to promote the benefit of, further the health of, and advance the education of persons within the Elderly Chinese Community in the area of benefit and to promote racial harmony within the wider community in Central Region.
