Objectives: The organisation is established for charitable purposes only, and in particular, the objects are: 1.1. to advance education by enhancing public knowledge and understanding of Scottish architectural and ornamental ironwork through research, study and other educational activities 1.2. to advance the arts, heritage, culture and science of the Scottish ironwork industry, its products and worldwide influence through the dissemination of historical information, publications, lectures and other events 1.3. to advance the heritage of Scotland's architectural and ornamental ironwork through the identification, recording and inventorying of extant and lost examples across Scotland and abroad, thus facilitating its physical preservation 1.4. to advance the heritage of Scotland's ironwork heritage through acquisition, preservation, study, interpretation and display of artefacts and archival material 1.5. to advance the heritage of Scotland's architectural and ornamental ironwork by facilitating a Friends of the Scottish Ironwork Foundation Group, whereby volunteer members of the public can support the objectives of the Foundation by subscription, donations or support in kind.
