Scottish PEN is a centre of PEN International and not-for-profit organisation that champions freedom of expression and literature across borders. We are a membership organisation and work with a range of writers, campaigners, activists and communities across Scotland and around the world.
Objectives: 4 The organisation’s purpose is the advancement of the education of the public by the following means: 4.1 The encouragement and promotion of writing in and about Scotland nationally and internationally 4.2 The support of writers worldwide in the interest of freedom and artistic expression 4.3 The fostering of international understanding through the appreciation of literature 4.4 The attendance of Scottish PEN representatives at conferences, symposia and other meetings of writers worldwide 4.5 The organisation in Scotland of conferences and other literary events 4.6 The undertaking of any legal activity to further these charitable objects provided that Scottish PEN shall in no circumstances engage in political activities.
