Educating the public, particularly young people, promoting good horticultural practice by holding regular events including lectures, plant sales, growing competitions within the society and also out with the society (eg primary schools). Donation of plants to local groups, planting of Spring bulbs in community gardens.
Objectives: To promote good horticultural practices by: (a) Educating the public, and especially young people, in the benefit to society generally and themselves to be obtained from horticulture. (b) Holding regular meetings for lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. (c) Holding horticultural shows and competitions. (d)Establishing a lending library of horticultural books, magazines and videos/DVDs (e) Establishing visits to gardens and other sites to observe gardening practice. (f) Fostering relationships with other organisations having similar aims.
