The Company’s objects are specifically restricted to the promotion of social inclusion, the advancement of education, the promotion of human rights and citizenship and the promotion of the benefit and wellbeing of children and young people convicted of offences or deemed to be at risk of committing offences or engaging in harmful behaviour, in particular but not exclusively (hereinafter called the “beneficiaries”) resident in Northern Ireland (“hereinafter called the “area of benefit”) without distinction of age, gender, sexual orientation, disability/ability, race, ethnic origin, political, religious or other opinion by associating the statutory and local authorities, voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to promote social inclusion and advance education with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the said beneficiaries and in particular: (a) to provide advice, support, training, education and advocacy to children and young people aged 10 to 21 who have been convicted of offences who would otherwise receive custodial sentences or residual care or vulnerable young people deemed to be at risk of offending or engaging in harmful practices by the provision of services that promote their inclusion, participation and engagement in society and prevent future offending; (b) to promote social inclusion for the public benefit by working with children and young people who are socially excluded or at risk of becoming socially excluded on the grounds of their youth, substance abuse or dependency, poverty, poor educational or skills attainment, crime or social and economic position and circumstances, in order to relieve the needs of those young people who are socially excluded or at risk of social exclusion and assisting them to integrate into society; (c) to promote or assist in the promotion, facilitation and organisation of community based capacity building programmes and projects for the beneficiaries within the area of benefit who have need of such assistance as a result of their youth, substance abuse or dependency, poverty, poor educational or skills attainment, crime or social and economic position and circumstances, in an effort to increase the abilities, skills and self-confidence of such beneficiaries; (d) to advance education among public bodies and statutory agencies who work with children and young people convicted of offences or deemed to be at risk of offending or committing other harmful activities by providing support, advice, training, research and information and assisting in the promulgation and implementation of effective policies and good practice concerning youth justice policy and initiatives affecting the beneficiaries; (e) to relieve poverty by the promotion or assistance in the promotion, facilitation and organisation of adequate, accessible and quality programmes of vocational and educational training, work experience schemes, information and support in an effort to acquire skills and retraining to assist the beneficiaries in obtaining employment; (f) to advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the directors may from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity.
