Founder's Welcome: From Tragedy to Purpose
When I established Poppy's Light Foundation on 20 February 2025, it was with one purpose: to create something positive from the loss of my daughter, Poppy. On 7 August 2024, Poppy died as a result of Catecholaminergic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia (CPVT), a rare Inherited Cardiac Condition (ICC). Prior to her death, Poppy experienced an episode of fainting during exercise, but the underlying condition was not recognised until after she died. As a mother, I know first-hand the devastation that can follow the diagnosis—or loss—associated with an Inherited Cardiac Condition. I also know how isolating, frightening and overwhelming that journey can be. Poppy's Light Foundation was created to ensure that other families have access to information, support and hope.

Poppy was a bright, kind and much-loved young woman whose life touched so many people.
On 7 August 2024, our lives changed forever when Poppy died as a result of CPVT, a rare inherited cardiac condition that can cause life-threatening heart rhythm disturbances. Prior to her death, Poppy experienced an episode of fainting during exercise. At the time, the significance of this symptom was not recognised and her underlying condition remained undiagnosed. It was only after her death that CPVT was identified. Poppy's story highlights the importance of awareness, family screening and early diagnosis.

Our First Six Months Progress Poppy's Light Foundation Retained Funds As a newly established charity, Poppy's Light Foundation has adopted a prudent approach to financial management. Funds retained during the reporting period will support the continued development of specialist psychological support, expansion of the Information Hub, awareness and advocacy initiatives, and the exploration of future projects, including a dedicated ICC Family Hub. When one family learned that an inherited cardiac condition could affect multiple members of their family, they were faced with uncertainty, anxiety and a long list of unanswered questions. The possibility of family screening, concerns about future health and the emotional impact of the diagnosis affected not only the individual concerned, but parents, siblings and wider family members. Through Poppy's Light Foundation, the family accessed trusted information, specialist psychological support and guidance tailored to their circumstances. Having access to professionals who understood inherited cardiac conditions helped them better understand the challenges they faced and provided practical strategies for coping with uncertainty. Over time, the family reported feeling more informed, more confident and better equipped to navigate the future together. Most importantly, they no longer felt isolated in their experience. The charity delivers its work through three key pillars: Identify- helping families access trusted information and specialist support. Support- providing access to specialist psychological support and emotional wellbeing services. Live enabling families to create positive experiences, strengthen relationships and improve wellbeing following diagnosis or bereavement. Achievements and Performance During its first reporting period, Poppy'5 Light Foundation progressed from a newly established charity to an organisation delivering practical support. trusted information and awareness activities for families affected by inherited cardiac conditions. Information and Awareness The charity developed and expanded its online Information Hub, providing information on irbherited cardiac conditions. family screening, symptoms and waining Signs, emotional wellbein& specialist support and living well with an inherited cardiac condition.

Feedback from beneficiaries indicated increased confidence, improved emotional wellbeing, reduced isolation, greater resilience and increased hope for the future. Family Wellbeing and Community Support Through the charity's Live programme. support was provided to help families create positive memories, strengthen family relationships and improve wellbeinE. The charity also continued to build a Erowing network of supporters, volunteers, healthcare professiona15 and community partners who contributed to fundraisin& awareness raising and Service delivery. Fundraising and Community Engagernent More than ten fundraising and awareness initiatives were delivered during the period.
