Para 1.17 | The objects of the CIO are 1. To provide facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation by providing an area for use as a community garden and other activities for individuals in Norton Woodseats and the surrounding area, who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants. 2. To advance education for the public benefit in particular by providing opportunities for learning about nature, horticulture, the environment, and connections to healthy living and eating, through the community garden. 3. To promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment of the community garden and surrounding natural areas by enhancing biodiversity.” |

Over the past year the Charity has opened the site of the Community Garden to allow visitors to relax and to participate in its upkeep and development of the Garden as they choose. The garden is available for hire and has hosted a number of wedding and birthday parties. Additionally the Charity has held a number of social events, both as fund raising events and also celebrating the changing seasons. |

This is something the Trustees are committed to developing as the charity grows / develops. All investment to date has been into Garden Infrastructure (paths, planting etc). |

A survey undertaken during this period (75 respondents) identified that 47% identified as being more connected to nature as a result of the Garden. The same survey identified that 42% of respondents stated an improvement in their overall mental health. ●Increased visitor numbers and consequential growth and support of the local community - Increased attendance at social events ●Networking with other community groups to provide mutual support and coordinated social events. |
