HERE North East CIO was established as a cultural hub and resource centre to promote equality and diversity for the public benefit. The existing archival materials are a fundamental core of this cultural hub and their continued care and accessibility are essential to our vision and strategy. Our collection is the first of its kind in the region and currently includes hard and digital archival materials and oral histories of several key local Global Majority organisations.
Due to a Trustee member stepping down after our first AGM, and the limited capacity of setting up the new CIO off the ground, there has been a halt in activities.

We have a draft reserve policy in place. This is to protect enough funds in the charity for three months.

The charity’s principle sources of funding came for the seed funding from the four Universities – Newcastle etc each contributing £2,500 except Northumbria £2,550

Future Plans
The coming year will see continued efforts to recruit more members and have an admin worker to support the day to day running of the charity. There is also a plan to hire a research and development associate to support the charity’s business plan and scope suitable funding sources.
