To administer the museum to preserve the history and ancient customs of Ashburton for the benefit of the public, visitors, community and future generations.

Objects: The Object Of The CIO Is: To Advance The Education Of The Public In Ashburton And The Surrounding Area By Establishing And Maintaining A Museum, Together With Associated Artefacts, To Serve As A Source Of Historical Information About The Ashburton Area. In Particular, But Not Exclusively, The Museum Will: · Collect, Safeguard And Display In An Interesting And Informative Way Relevant Artefacts, Photographs, Records And Objects Of Interest; · Provide A Meeting Area And Location For Historical Research; · Encourage And Facilitate The Sharing Of Exhibits And Artefacts With Other Museums And Heritage Centres, And Co-Working With Them In Furtherance Of These Objects.
