To advance the education of the public in the history and heritage of Ashburton and the surrounding area and the understanding and appreciation of the arts by the provision and maintenance of an educational, heritage, exhibition and arts centre.

Objects: The Charity’s Objects (‘objects’) Are Specifically Restricted To The Following:(1) To Advance The Education Of The Public In The History And Heritage Of Ashburton And The Surrounding Area And The Understanding And Appreciation Of The Arts Bythe Provision And Maintenance Of An Educational, Heritage, Exhibition And Arts Centre.(2) To Further Or Benefit The Residents Of Ashburton And The Neighbourhood, Without Distinction Of Sex, Sexual Orientation, Race Or Of Political, Religious Or Otheropinions By Associating Together The Said Residents And The Local Authorities, Voluntary And Other Organisations In A Common Effort To Advance Education And To Provide Facilities In The Interests Of Social Welfare For Recreation And Leisure Time Occupation With The Objective Of Improving The Conditions Of Life For Theresidents.
