**Objects:** THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS: TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN ASHBURTON AND THE SURROUNDING AREA BY ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING A MUSEUM, TOGETHER WITH ASSOCIATED ARTEFACTS, TO SERVE AS A SOURCE OF HISTORICAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ASHBURTON AREA. IN PARTICULAR, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, THE MUSEUM WILL: · COLLECT, SAFEGUARD AND DISPLAY IN AN INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE WAY RELEVANT ARTEFACTS, PHOTOGRAPHS, RECORDS AND OBJECTS OF INTEREST;  · PROVIDE A MEETING AREA AND LOCATION FOR HISTORICAL RESEARCH;  · ENCOURAGE AND FACILITATE THE SHARING OF EXHIBITS AND ARTEFACTS WITH OTHER MUSEUMS AND HERITAGE CENTRES, AND CO-WORKING WITH THEM IN FURTHERANCE OF THESE OBJECTS.

**Activities:** To administer the museum to preserve the history and ancient customs of Ashburton for the benefit of the public, visitors, community and future generations.
