To run and maintain the Thornton Steward Institute and to promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of the civil parish of Thornton Steward in the North Riding of the County of York and the immediate neighbourhood (the "area of benefit") without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, nationality, race or political, religious or other options.
Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are To Run And Maintain The Thornton Steward Institute And To Promote For The Benefit Of The Inhabitants Of The Civil Parish Of Thornton Steward In North Yorkshire And The Immediate Neighbourhood (The Area Of Benefit) Without Distinction Of Sex, Sexual Orientation, Age, Disability, Nationality, Race Or Political, Religious Or Other Opinions, The Provision Of Facilities For:(1) Recreation Or Other Leisure Time Occupation Of Individuals Who Have Need Of Such Facilities By Reason Of Their Youth, Age, Infirmity Or Disablement, Financial Hardship Or Social And Economic Circumstances Or For The Public At Large In The Interests Of Social Welfare And With The Object Of Improving The Conditions Of Life Of The Said Inhabitants; (2) The Promotion Of Literature, Science And The Fine Arts And For General Purposes; And(3) The Promotion Of The Instruction, Benefit, Interest, Amusement, Recreation, And Entertainment Of The Inhabitants.
