Activities

The Slaithwaite Civic Hall Trust maintains and manages Slaithwaite Civic Hall for the benefit of the community of Slaithwaite and the wider surrounding area. Rooms are available for hire include a theatre style hall with stage and capacity for 250, a large meeting room, a number of smaller rooms and offices. The Trust also promotes performing and visual arts.

Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are(1) To Further Or Benefit The Residents Of Slaithwaite And The Surrounding Area Without Distinction Of Sex, Sexual Orientation, Disability, Race Or Of Political, Religious Or Other Opinions In Accordance With The Protected Characteristics Defined By Current Legislation By Associating Together Residents And Local Authorities, Voluntary And Other Organisations In A Common Effort To Advance Education And To Provide Facilities In The Interests Of Social Welfare For Recreation And Leisure Time Occupation With The Objective Of Improving The Conditions Of Life For The Residents.(2) In Furtherance Of These Objects But Not Otherwise, The Trustees Shall Have Power To Establish, Secure, Preserve And Hold On Trust The Establishment Of Slaithwaite Civic Hall As A Community Asset And To Maintain Or Manage Or Co-Operate With Any Statutory Authority In The Maintenance And Management Of Such A Centre For Activities Promoted By The Charity In Furtherance Of The Above Objects.(3) To Promote The Performing And Visual Arts For The Public Benefit.nothing In This Constitution Shall Authorise An Application Of The Property Of The CIO For The Purposes Which Are Not Charitable In Accordance With [section 7 Of The Charities And Trustee Investment (scotland) Act 2005] And [section 2 Of The Charities Act (northern Ireland) 2008]
