AGM REPORT 2021

Matthew 25:40 “Whatever you did for one of my brothers or sisters, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did for me.”

Quote: “The world’s hunger is getting ridiculous, there is more fruit in rich man’s shampoo than in a poor man’s plate.”

It was difficult to know where to start with my report this year but undoubtedly the saddest news was that we lost our Ron. I think we all loved Ron and I know for sure that Ron loved us, he always loved coming to see us and he is so very missed. So, let’s pause just for a moment and bring Ron to mind………………

I pass my sincere thanks to Gregg who represented us at his funeral and give thanks to all who made contributions in his memory.

During this last AGM year Josie and Mike resigned and as founding members they are missed. Thankfully Liz was prepared to come back to support our clients working alongside Donna.

More recently Trevor resigned again another founding member but there are issues which he is dealing with, and we wish him well.

On a happy note, Greg has now been confirmed as a Trustee and we welcome him on board.

The unprecedented Covid situation continued through the year with a short break during August where many of us who had been isolating were able to return but sadly this didn’t last long. Most sincere thanks go to all the volunteers who kept the Project up and running. Thank you, Greg and Tracey, Carol, Patrizia and Jac, Neil, Revd. Hazel and Revd. Nicola. Thanks to Carol for taking over the collections from both Tesco’s and other outlets and for keeping the hall Covid safe, the PCC have written to Carol to thank her for the cleaning which could have gone unnoticed. Thanks also go to Neil’s son James who came to volunteer and since this time I have been happy to provide him with a reference and he got the job and so we wish him well. I am also thankful that during the pandemic all our working volunteers have been safe and Covid free.

It has been as difficult for those of us who have been isolating at home and missing our weekly camaraderie and it’s taken a pandemic to spoil Joan’s 100% attendance. Joan is currently unable to return as she is quite poorly and so we wish her well and we look forward to her return.

During this our 8th year the outreach has increased thanks to the networking that Patrizia and Jac has done through the Emergency Food Bank in particular the connections with the Diamond Centre, Sutton Christian Fellowship and Sutton Academy.

Thanks go to all the funders who have helped us keep our cupboards full and thanks go to the community both near and further away who have been so generous in their giving. During the year we have given gifts of food to 2969 people.

Sincere thanks go to Neil who continues to do the administration including the important Charity Commission administration. Thanks to June who is now working alongside Neil, and both have recently worked on a project and have produced some leaflets advertising that we are here to help.

Thanks go to Brian who has continued to keep our accounts and has provided interim and yearend figures.

Thanks go to Donna who continues to talk to our clients and is still working tirelessly at the allotment. More recently the allotment has a greenhouse, shed and it continues through Donna to attract people to help including a local cub group.

Thanks go to George who continues to help our clients through the Social Inclusion Programme; George has been with us from the very beginning, but Ron liaised with us for many years in his place.

Thanks go to the organizations that have assisted us this year - the supermarkets, Notts CC, Ashfield DC, as well as the extraordinary donations from individuals.

Continued thanks go to Amanda Waring who continues to keep our Face Book page updated.

A difficult year has resulted in bringing the very best out of many people wanting to help and many many letters of thanks have been sent and many gifts have been given where letters were not requested. I continue to believe that we are truly blessed, we may not be the biggest or the busiest but what we do have is big hearts with the energy to work so that hopefully less people go hungry, and I repeat again what I reported last year - you all are incredibly special people!
