management of the community space for
the residents of Iwade. The benefits to the

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 We have had, probably, our most
successful year since opening the
doors to the barn in November 2017.
The aim of the Trust was to create a
community hub that residents really
felt part of, and that has been
achieved. Since opening, the barn has
welcomed thousands of visitors. The
Trust provide the barn free of charge
to community groups, of which we
have had six weekly groups this year,
including the friendship group, men’s
breakfast club, various arts and crafts
groups, and supporting other village
groups such as the Allotment
Association, in allowing the barn to be
used for their committee meetings.
We have eight regular weekly
businesses using the barn, which not
only assists the businesses in having
a suitable venue, but also gives
residents services and events which
wouldn’t exist in the village without
the barn being available.
The private bookings have really
increased this year, with hundreds of
private bookings bringing a wide
range of uses to the barn, such as
charity fundraising events, baby
showers, birthdays, Christmas
dinners, christenings, get-togethers

and photo-shoots. There has been several village events, such as our own Iwade Food and Drink Festival and the monthly pop-up micropub. With our own events and the hire fee income we have remained financially stable allowing us to remain free of charge to the community groups, and we hope will can continue to do so in the future. Having the computer tables removed has meant that the barn has more useable space, which has helped increase the numbers of people hirers can have at an event, whether this be for private or business use. This has attracted users who wouldn’t have been able to book in the past. The completion of our horsebox bar has been a huge success and made a real difference to how we can provide food and drink at events and the micropub. Being able to be outside in the summer with tables and chairs gives us much more space to use.
