Objectives: 4.1 The Company's main Purpose is consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development. The Company's Purposes are: 4.1.1 Advancement of citizenship or Community development, including rural or urban regeneration, including but not limited to: 4.1.1.1. Advancing community development by bringing wildflower meadows into Community use, operation and/or ownership, with the object of improving the quality of life for the Community and the public in general. 4.1.2 To advance educational opportunities in the Community relating to environment, culture, heritage and/or history, including but not limited to: 4.1.2.1. Advancing education by providing practical written guidance on meadow restoration methods and training volunteers in specialist meadow restoration skills, biological recording and practical conservation techniques with the aim of providing essential ecosystem services, thereby enhancing the quality of life of the Community and the public in general. 4.1.2.2. Advancing science through the study of the flora, fauna and fungi of meadow habitats by ecologists and other experts, providing education and opportunities for the public to participate in citizen science and nature-based projects, and disseminating the findings of any such research, with the object of improving the Community's ability to protect, preserve and enhance their environment and, thereby, their quality of life. 4.1.2.3. Advancing the heritage and culture of the Scottish Borders by promoting traditional skills, arts and crafts that connect people with their natural environment with the object of improving the quality of life of the Community and the public in general. 4.1.3 To advance environmental protection or improvement including preservation, sustainable development and conservation of the natural environment, the maintenance, improvement or provision of environmental amenities for the Community and/or the preservation of buildings or sites of architectural, historic or other importance to the Community, including but not limited to: 4.1.3.1. Advancing environmental protection and improvement by restoring degraded and creating new, biodiverse grassland habitats to arrest the biodiversity crisis and reverse the catastrophic loss of wildflower meadows across the Scottish Borders. This will help reverse the associated decline in insect populations and provide essential ecosystem services for crop pollination, carbon retention, and flood risk reduction, thereby sustainably improving the conditions of life for the Community and the public in general.
