Objectives and activities

Lumphanan Hall Association (LHA) was established in 2024 in response to concerns from the local community regarding difficulties in booking Lumphanan Hall and Aberdeenshire Council’s plans to divest the asset due to ongoing financial pressures. Following discussions with Aberdeenshire Council and LiveLife Aberdeenshire, it became ' Clear that community ownership of the hall was necessary to ensure its continued availability and development asa vital resource for local residents.

Our goal is to maintain the hall as a vibrant, inclusive, and well used space that serves the needs of the entire community.

Over the last 125 years, Lumphanan Hall has served as a vital hub for the community, hosting a wide variety of events and activities. It —. remains central to village life, providing a gathering place for events.

We are committed to making the hall a well-used and valued resource that enriches the lives of those in our village.

Details of any deficit

We do not have any deficit.

_Donated facilities and services

Future plans

Our plan is to submit our Community Asset Transfer and, once the legal processes have been completed, take on the running of the Hall.

We want to reinstate our local Hall as a focal point for our community to foster positive and healthy relationships and opportunities for all members of our community.

In the short term, we will need to apply to Funds and for.Grants while also carrying out some fundraising activities to support our work.

Additional information

Built in 1897 by the Parish Council for the use of its parishioners, Lumphanan Hall has been a cornerstone of the community for over a century, and the hall’s historic roots are a source of pride for local residents. We have even discovered a press article from 1898, detailing the opening ceremony, along with a photo of the hall in its original state. The article describes the hall as “an unpretentious but very substantial, comfortable and commodious structure capable of accommodating 400 to 500 people." Designed by Mr. George Spark, a local Parish Council clerk, and constructed by local tradespeople, the hall has always been a community-built resource, and its history is deeply intertwined with the village.
