IwrRODUCTION The Arches Arts & Creative Hub was registerd as a Scollish Charitable Inco4M)raled Organisation (SCIO) on 15th November 2023. C&IRITABLE PURPOSES The charity's purposes ar¢ &$ follows.. a) To promote the interesls of th¢ Arts in general, and social intercourse amongst its Members. The Arts includes. but is not limii¢d to, music, drama, aru crafis, dance, film. b) To provide a platforni for artistes. eative individuals aDd groups, to showcase theirtalents and ¢ontribute to the culturnl enrichment, particularly anng the residents of Hawick, and the wider community. Our cent will offei a range of prO8MMeS and evenls that will cater for people of all ages and backgrounds. Our goal is lo crealc a vibtant and inclusivc space that fosters ereativity, learning. and conmlunity wg¢ment. c) To pmvide, in the interGsts of so¢ia] welfare. facilities for recreation and otheT leisure time occupation available to the public at large within Hawick and the SuOUdIng area of the Sci)tti8h Borders. with a view to inwoving their conditions of life. AcfiviTIES AND ACHIEVEMENts In order to Promote the aiK)v¢ charitsblc purposes the board has been seeking a suitable building in Hawick to 5crvc a5 an Arts hub for the community. This has proved to be a difficult tssk. Premises were identified, owned by th¢ local authorlty but no longcr in usc and thcrefor¢ a wt¢ntial candidatc for a community assct transfer. The futUTe of the Premises has been subject to a lengthy consultation pro¢css bctwcen Scottish Borders Coun¢il and the Seottish CJovernmeni. and the position was still unclear at the end of the financial period. The board is actively considering altcrnalives and is also engaging with thc community to seek the views of pokntial user groups and the general public. The proje has recently been voteA as the top project in th¢ Hawick Town pla which qualilies us for fimding towards a feasibility sludy OD The Arche8 and otlw potenti&l sites, and with a Wential of receivin8 fimdll from The Borderlands Funding source.
