IwrRODUCTION
The Arches Arts & Creative Hub was registerd as a Scollish Charitable Inco4M)raled Organisation (SCIO)
on 15th November 2023.
C&IRITABLE PURPOSES
The charity's purposes ar¢ &$ follows..
a) To promote the interesls of th¢ Arts in general, and social intercourse amongst its Members. The Arts
includes. but is not limii¢d to, music, drama, aru crafis, dance, film.
b) To provide a platforni for artistes. ￿eative individuals aDd groups, to showcase theirtalents and ¢ontribute
to the culturnl enrichment, particularly an￿ng the residents of Hawick, and the wider community. Our cent
will offei a range of prO￿8MMeS and evenls that will cater for people of all ages and backgrounds. Our goal
is lo crealc a vibtant and inclusivc space that fosters ereativity, learning. and conmlunity wg¢ment.
c) To pmvide, in the interGsts of so¢ia] welfare. facilities for recreation and otheT leisure time occupation
available to the public at large within Hawick and the Su￿OU￿dIng area of the Sci)tti8h Borders. with a view
to inwoving their conditions of life.
AcfiviTIES AND ACHIEVEMENts
In order to Promote the aiK)v¢ charitsblc purposes the board has been seeking a suitable building in Hawick
to 5crvc a5 an Arts hub for the community. This has proved to be a difficult tssk. Premises were identified,
owned by th¢ local authorlty but no longcr in usc and thcrefor¢ a wt¢ntial candidatc for a community assct
transfer. The futUTe of the Premises has been subject to a lengthy consultation pro¢css bctwcen Scottish
Borders Coun¢il and the Seottish CJovernmeni. and the position was still unclear at the end of the financial
period. The board is actively considering altcrnalives and is also engaging with thc community to seek the
views of pokntial user groups and the general public.
The proje￿ has recently been voteA as the top project in th¢ Hawick Town pla￿ which qualilies us for
fimding towards a feasibility sludy OD The Arche8 and otlw potenti&l sites, and with a Wential of receivin8
fimdll￿ from The Borderlands Funding source.
The official Cominunily Assct Transfcr fonn is curTently a work in progress and will be submitted by th¢
IIthAugusl 2025.
The board have also bccn given the go ah￿d fiDrn SBCJAtkinqRealis. to approach various aTchiiectural
suppIi¢TS lo request interest on a feasibility srudy. with a budget up 10 £15,000.
Th¢ charity l￿d no trnnsactions in the period from inwrporation on 15th November 2023 to th¢ end of the
rinan¢ial p¢riod on 30th November 2024. The charity had no as8L*s or liabilities at 30th Novemkr 2024.

Recruitment and appointment of trustees
At each annual general meeting the members may elect any member to be a charity tfU5tcc. Th¢ board nmy at
any timc appoint any mcmbcr subject to maximum numbers of trustee restrictions in the constitution lo b¢ a
charity trustee. The b(wd may co-opt any non-menther to be a t￿st¢¢ on the basis that ihey have specialist
experience or skills which could be of assistance to the board. The maximum number of trust¢¢s is s¢ven. At
each AGM, all of the sffving charity trustces shall rctirc from office bul shall be eligible for r￿leCtIOn.

STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES, RESPONSIBILTTIES
The trL￿eeS must Prepare financial statements which give sufficient d¢t8il to enable an apprc¢ialion of the
transaction5 of the charity during the financial year. The tNstees aTe responsible for keeping proper
accounting records which discloge with reasonable accuracy 8t any time the financia] position of the charity
and to cnable thcm to ¢￿8Ure that the financial statements comply with the Clwities and Tn￿tee Inves¢ni¢nl
(Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). They are also
responsible for safeguarding tbe assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonabl¢ sleps for the prevention
and det¢ction of fraud and oth¢r irr¢gulariti¢s.

The charity's trnstees are responsibl¢ tor the preparation of the Accounts in accotthnce with ihe tern￿ of th¢
Charities and TtU8tLX Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities ACCo￿tS (Scotland) Regulations
2006 (as amended). Thc Charity T￿￿te¢S consider that the audit requirement of Regulatinn 10(I}(d) of th¢
Accounts Regulations docs not apply. It is my re5rx)nsibilily lo examine the Accounts a5 Tequir¢d under
section 44(1)(¢) of the Act and to state whethcrparticular nmtters hav¢ come to my attentio

My examinalion is carricd out in accordance with Rcgulation I l of the 2006 Regulations. An examination
in¢lud¢s a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a corJFarison of the A<xounts presented
with those records. It also includes ¢onsideration of any unusual items or digclosures in the Accounts, and
seeks cxplarjations from the Trnslees concerning any such matters. The proCedU￿S undertaken do not
provide all the evidcnce that would be required in an audil. and consequently I do not expT¢SS an audit
opinion on th¢ ￿¢W given by the Accounts.
