Objectives: 4. The organisation's purposes are: Kenyan Students Association - Scotland is going to help Kenyan students in Scotland with the following (g) The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science Kenyan Students come to Scotland and don't feel a sense of belonging due to loneliness and lack of familiarity. Kenyan Students Association will advance culture and heritage by organising educational events, promote Scottish tourism as a way for mental stability and Promote Kenyan culture and traditions, by organising cultural events that showcase Kenyan culture and traditions where students to eat cultural foods and interact with familiar faces. (n) the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage Kenyan students are disadvantaged due to insecure immigration status and lack of knowledge around governing systems in Scotland. The organisation will plan to relieve this disadvantage by providing support, assistance, guidance and advocacy services through peer-to-peer support, facilitated by other Kenyan students who have navigated the systems themselves. We will also provide peer to peer support for student to help relieve isolation and provide support to each other. We will also provide small grants to students to support them if they are destitute or require emergency funds. (f) the advancement of citizenship or community development The number of Kenyan students that come to Scotland, do not know of the civil responsibility to vote, the organisation will encourage students to carry out the civic duty to go and vote as they are citizens of the Commonwealth. We also aim to vocalise for equality of Kenyan , international students by speaking addressing the issues they face in rooms where they don't have the opportunities to. We will involve universities and local authorities to advocate for their needs and thus will prevent them from becoming socially excluded Kenyan students also face a lot of racial prejudice, that is sometimes guised as passive aggressiveness and the organisation will provide support to these students by organising meet ups where they can find other students and can get community to keep them sane i.e. . assist people to live better, safer or more fulfilled lives by encouraging social inclusion. (l) the promotion of equality and diversity While students come to Scotland, they experience a lot of aggression and racial related bias even in healthcare. The organisation will actively educate the wider community of the needs that Kenyan students require in order to be treated fairly and see equality and recognise diversity issues. The organisation will advocate for Kenyan and African students within other stakeholders, and provide workshops and presentations to other stakeholders.
