Activities

'It carries out activities or services itself'

'the advancement of education','the advancement of health','the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended','the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage'

The Charity aims to increase awareness of dementia in Peeblesshire, and to provide services to people living with dementia and their carers. The principle activities in the last year have been to host a fortnightly 'memory café' providing socialisation and recreation, a bimonthly Tea Dance providing socialisation and exercise, and to launch a Meeting Centre 2-days a week, this being the principle internationally recognised method for supporting persons with early to medium dementia and their carers.

Beneficiaries: 'No specific group, or for the benefit of the community'

Objectives: a) to raise awareness of dementia, and of how the community can support people living with dementia to participate in community life. b) to promote social inclusion for people living with dementia by providing social and recreational activities, by ascertaining what resources they and their families would like to see in Tweeddale, and, where practicable, by facilitating the introduction of such resources. c) to encourage effective communication between statutory bodies, Third Sector agencies, and people affected by dementia. d) to work towards creating a dementia friendly Tweeddale.
