We exist to provide benefit for young people without positive destinations, offering heritage skills training in construction of traditional buildings and structures: these include young people disengaged from classroom learning and still of school age, and young people in our employment as skills trainees. We also aim to advocate for traditional skills as an educational pathway for young people and as a critical need for the heritage sector as it addresses the future of the built environment, particularly the impacts of climate change.

Objectives: 6.1 The Company’s charitable purposes, for the public benefit, are to advance education, citizenship, community development, heritage, culture, the relief of those in need, and environmental improvement, particularly for young people aged: (a) 14–18 in education. and (b) 18–25 not yet in positive destinations, within Whithorn and District, the Machars and the Rhins of Galloway. 6.2 These purposes are advanced in particular by: 6.2.1 providing accessible training and accredited learning in traditional and early construction skills. 6.2.2 providing cultural, wellbeing, and skills-based opportunities for local people. 6.2.3 restoring derelict or dilapidated land or buildings for community or charitable use. 6.2.4 promoting understanding of past building technologies through practice, experimentation, and reconstruction.
