Objectives and activities
GMAG was established to protect Galloway from irresponsible mining, prospecting and development and advance environmental protection through conducting research, providing information and , communication in order to make representations in response to mining applications and support the community and other stakeholders to do so
Since receiving OSCR approval mining activity within Galloway has reduced as a result of the company concerned apparently focusing on its operations elsewhere. Initial research into a range of regulatory issues has been carried out and responses made to relevant consultation documents on planning, land use etc.

structure, governance and management GMAG is a Tier 1 SCIO and its governing document follows SCVO guidance. There are 7 trustees as indicated above Achievements and performance Mining activity within Galloway has reduced since inception of GMAG and it has not been necessary to be proactive in the public sphere. The focus of our work continues to be research, responding to relevant consultations and maintaining a watching brief on prospective mining activity locally. Financial review There has been no financial activity since InptIOn as no costs have been incurred and no income received. Future plans We will continue to maintain a close watching brief on proposals for mining activity within Galloway and respond accordingly. We will also make responses to public consultations where relevant to our sphere of activity.
