GEMS formed to provide recreational and workshop facilities and to advance the social needs, health and well-being of (primarily) men of all ages and backgrounds living in the community defined by the community councils of ‘Montrose’, ‘Ferryden & Craig’, ‘Hillside, Dun & Logie Pert’ and ‘St Cyrus’, and has the following purposes: (a) to provide and maintain workshop and social facilities, namely a Men’s Shed, including a safe venue and convivial environment for these activities to take place. (b) to promote and encourage social interaction and fellowship. (c) to reduce isolation and support physical and mental health and well-being. (d) to develop skills, knowledge and experience of the members and encourage sharing with others in the community. (e) to co-operate with other Community groups in Montrose and the surrounding area. We do the above by providing workshop facilities where members can meet up to three times a week. Workshop sessions focus on working together.
