APPENDIX 1 Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of hea: ‘ _ the charity during the financial period Afro Celt Exhibition (April 2024 - May 2025)

The African Caribbean Society of Scotland conceived and delivered the Afro Celt Exhibition, celebrating the Afro-Caribbean legacy in Scotland through historic narratives, migration stories, poetry, and scholarly reflection. The project positioned Afro-Caribbean heritage within a broader Celtic and Scottish cultural dialogue.

The Society led exhibition design, production, branding, and installation, ensuring an engaging and academically grounded presentation incorporating archival materials and contemporary artistic responses.

In partnership with the University of Westminster’s Black Music Network and Dr Mykaell Riley, the project strengthened scholarly context and cross-border collaboration.

The Afro Celt Bursary was established to support Afro-Caribbean creatives, commissioning new installations and multimedia works aligned with the exhibition theme.

Installations were presented at St Cecilia’s Hall (22 August 2025) for UNESCO International Day, with the main exhibition launch held during Black History Month 2025 at Custom Lane, Edinburgh.
