“The Lighthouse” building in Kyle of Lochalsh, has so far proved successful in furthering the work of the charity, as a venue for meetings, as well as giving benefit to the wider public. The Café has been open 3 days per week attracting a number of regular users who benefit from the regular social interaction. It has also provided finances to pay for at least one member of staff, improving employability.

Some regular users have gained a sense of ownership of the place, which has involved them in offering to help maintain the building. The building itself has thereby been of help in building a mutually supportive group.

The cafe drop-in during the week has continued to be useful to as a neutral venue in which to meet people who are on the first step of seeking support with substance misuse. Sometimes they have entered to make use of the free food ‘pay it forward’ scheme and in doing so have engaged with support.

Christian worship and fellowship meetings have continued two Sunday afternoons per month. Providing an opportunity for outside speakers to visit and share their recovery stories, which have encouraged the attendees.

Other local charities, Skye & Lochalsh Mental Health Association, Young Carers and Lochalsh Youth Trust have continued to benefit from using the Lighthouse building.

Community support such as Alzheimer’s Scotland and the local Housing Associations have hosted drop ins in the Café.
Moving Forward:
The board of “Living Hope (Skye and Lochalsh)” recognise the benefits of the “Lighthouse” building to the charity and this will continue as long as funds allow.

The principal source of the income of Living Hope is regular and occasional donations from supporters of the charity. There is also income from independent Organisations who use the clwity's premises. It is the policy of the charity to endeavour to maintain reserves of at least 6 month's expenditUTe. I report on the accounts of the charity for the financial year ended 3 1 May 2024 as set out on pages 7 to 9
Respective responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner
The charity trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006.
The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1)(d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts under section 44(1)(c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of Independent Examiner’s Statement
My examination is carried out with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention

to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44 (1)(a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and
