Activities

'It carries out activities or services itself'

'the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended'

Melvich Community SCIO was established to replace the former village hall, which was demolished in 2021, and to lead the development of a new, modern community facility. Since then, we have been progressing through the design, consultation and planning stages of the project, working closely with our community to ensure the new hall will meet local needs both now and in the future. While this work has been underway, we have continued to organise a wide range of fundraising and community events. These activities have served a dual purpose: raising vital funds towards the construction of the new village hall and maintaining a strong sense of community by bringing local people together during the development process. Through these events, we have been able to keep residents engaged, strengthen community spirit, and ensure that the new hall is being built not just for the community, but with the community.

Beneficiaries: 'No specific group, or for the benefit of the community'

Objectives: 4 The organisation’s purposes are: 4.1 To provide, or assist in the provision of, facilities for the recreation or other leisure-time occupation, in the interest of social welfare in an effort to improve the conditions of life of the inhabitants of the Melvich Community Council Area.
