SC0157091 I'the Trust'l this year to achieve rhls aim by promoting an anTrual resldential orchestral course during the summei holidays, for childreTr of upper pi*mary and lower secondary sthool age, as well as occasional Play Away Days. ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE Durlngthe year to 30 September 2024 theSCIO was dormant until the Trust undertookthe necessary procedures to wind up and translerthe assets and attivities to the SCIO. which took place in May 2024. As merger accounting has been used, the a¢tlvities are reported as rf undertaken bythe SCIO for the whole period. Duringthe year ended September 30th, 2024, the Scott15h Schools Orchestra frust promoted three activitie5. In dditioth to the summer resTdential course, Nn along similar lines to those organised by the Scottish Sthools Orchestra Trust eath summer from 1985 to 2023, it also ran P5ay Away Day5. similar to those organised each Novemtierfrom 1996 until 2022 and each Febwary since 2003 until 2023. Overthe tourse ofthe 2023124 events. we welcomed 163 mus4Ctans at our three eyents with 98 musiciarss new to the Scottlsh Schoo15 Orchestra Trust and 26 local authorities represented overall. Aortumn PloyAway Day The Aturnn Play Away Oay wa5 held on Sunday November 19th. 2023. We welcomed 99 mL>sician5 aged between 8 and 15 who each paid £39 SO to attend the Play Away Day from 10.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m. at St George's School, Edinburgh. The eveftt coftcluded with a shartng event for Parents/carers. The Strin8 Orchestra was conducted by joanna Petrie, and the Wlnd 8and and Symphony Orehestra by Susan Dingle. There was I paid adult5tring coach and 2 paid adultwind coaches. along with 3 ttnFtaid student assistants. St Geor8e's char8ed £550 for providingvenue hire. Partitipant breakdown for the Aulymn PlayAway Days is a5 follow5. 99 parricipants 140 boys, 59 4lrls178 participants were from Stale Schools and 21 partlclpants were from independent schools. 45 participants were woodwind and brass players 3nd 54 were string players.
