The Scottish Schools Orchestra Trust exists to help young people develop their musical skills and enjoyment of music by giving them opportunities to play in orchestras, wind bands and other musical ensembles. It promotes music education and participation by running residential courses, Play Away Days, concerts and other activities where young instrumentalists can learn, perform and work together. The charity aims to encourage the study and practice of instrumental music, build confidence and teamwork through group music-making, and make these opportunities available to young people from across Scotland and beyond.

Objectives: 4 The organisation's purposes are: 4.1 a) the advancement of education. and b) the advancement of the arts and culture. specifically through * the provision of ensemble playing opportunities for young instrumentalists throughout Scotland and beyond * the advancement, promotion and encouragement of the study and practice of instrumental music * the promotion of residential and non-residential activities, courses, concerts and any other educational activities as may tend to the attainment of any of the aims of the organisation. 4.2 any other purpose that may reasonably be regarded as analogous to any of the preceding purposes
