Grantown Initiative (GI) is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee since 2013 and a registered charity in Scotland since 2021, formed by its members to benefit the community of Grantown-on-Spey and the surrounding area. It exists to run major community events and manage projects, assets (land and buildings) on behalf of the community it serves, in order to support social, economic and environmental development of the town. It is set up with a Board of Directors and various sub committees which each run major events in the town such as Hogmanay, Christmas Lights and Torchlight Procession plus Thunder in the Glens (Grantown). It also includes the Grantown Business Association under its umbrella of activities. The GI owns, manages and operates the public toilets in the town for the benefit of residents and visitors. It also supports projects for wildlife such as promoting swift boxes, social projects such as the Veterans Club, Grantown and local place planning engagement.
