Activities

'It carries out activities or services itself'

'the advancement of education','the advancement of citizenship or community development','the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science','the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended','the advancement of environmental protection or improvement','the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage'

We aim to use the canals as a resource to support our local community and our local community members. We provide opportunities for volunteers to support and improve their mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. We do this through the management of the canal lock keeping contract with Scottish Canals, through the provision of facilities for personal development and through the training and education of our volunteers. In addition to our direct canal work, which includes the regular free hire of our canal boat for community use, we have now also been able to establish a bike workshop, based on the popular cycling route of the Forth & Clyde canal, which is staffed by our trained volunteers. Whilst our focus is on making a big difference to a small group of people, we are looking to expand our community reach to affect a wider group from the local area.

Beneficiaries: 'No specific group, or for the benefit of the community'
