We have used every tool at our disposal to promote the ex￿lIent work we do, and through advertisin8 and networklng we contlnue to attract a constant trlckle of volunteers. We regularly review our proce(lures and look to develop and implement new cost.effertive strategies to meet thls head on. We have totally translormed our website. we advertise in k>cal publicatlons across Northeasi Flle and on the internet, our staff regularly go to falls and to busy shoppln8 areas. but our best source to flftd volunteers remalns word of mouth in the lo¢al communlty. Funded by Flfe Health & Soclal Care Partnershlp, Include Me provldes a free. independent eltlten advocaey service in North East Fife to vulnerable adults aged 16- 65 who are affected by disabillty, chronie illness, dementia, autism spettrum disorder or mental disorder {includin8 mental illness. learning disability or personality dlsorderl. and who need support to safeguard their own.wellbeln& rlghts, care or other Snterests. Include Me 15 managed bya volunteermana8ementcommittee andstaffed by two part-tlme development workers. Our advocacy partnerships are underpinned by the principles of; Independence, Loyalty Self-Dlrection and Equallty with advocates endeavouring to be always instructed or directed by their advocacy portner. Advocates also enable their advocacy partners to self-advocate as far as possible It 15 an empowering relationship. Our cltlien advocates support people to Ret the Informatlon they need and to conslder thelr optlons,. they support people to be listened to. respected and understood. Our advocates try to ensure that certain decision5 are taken with due consideration for all relevant factors which Includes the person's unlque preferences and perspectlves. Events Th15 year for the first time, we held a summer BBQ at Craigtoun Park for our partnershlp5 and volunteers. Thls proved a hit with everyone. It was good to come tO8ether soclally for both the volunteers and for some of the partners to meet up with friends they used to see regularly before day care facilities were cut back so drastically. We also held our regular Christmas Gathering which this year took place in the Cosmos Centre in St Andrews. A local 8roup Yhe Liltlng Lassies. provided some musical entertalnment wSth some members enthusiastically Joinin8 in. These events are often the only tirne some of the trustees get to see the positive effects citizen advocacy has on those involved and it is wonderful to wltness.

We gathered and collated evidence from questlonnalres, revlews and dlscusslonk Thls demonstrates the sl8nificant Positive impact and outcomes of Include Me Citizen Advocacy: From the responses of volunteer advocates, It was revealed that l¢J)% of those Surveyed felt that cltizen advoc3cy had empowered their partners to en8a8e more actively in decision-making processes, with 57% a8reeing and 43% stron8ly a8reein8 with this assertion. Furthem10￿, 87% of advocates Indlcated that cStSzen advocacy had facilitated ihe development of new support networks for partners wlthln the communlty. effectively reducing soclal Isolation. Addltlonally, 72% of respondents agreed that thelr Involvement wlth the Individual had Increased the likelihood of the person utilizin8 approprlate community services. One advocate hi8hlighted their role In 5afeguardSng a partnerfs right5 and well.bein8 by promptly raisin8 concerns Wlth staff re8ardln8 observable changes in the indlvldual'5 condition, which led to timely medical advice and the prevention of a more 5erlous health Issue. Separate 511rvey5 were also admlnlstered to stakeholders.
