The Old Govan Fair SCIO was formally recognised as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SC050116) in April 2020, replacing The Govan Fair Association. The Old Govan Fair is a non-profit organisation concerned specifically with organising, coordinating, and delivering the ‘Govan Fair’, which is one of the oldest Fair’s in Scotland, and takes place over the first weekend in June every year (Friday through to the Saturday currently).

Beneficiaries: 'No specific group, or for the benefit of the community'

Objectives: Providing a recreational facility or organise recreational activities with the aim of improving the conditions of life for whom the facility or activities are mainly intended. In furtherance of this object the organisation will be responsible for the design, coordination, management, promotion and development of the annual Govan Fair, which is a large event that provides the opportunity for the local community to celebrate Govan’s heritage and history, whilst enjoying themselves. To advance citizenship or community development we will work with local community members, local groups and (or) organisations to develop innovative and responsive activities within the Fair programme and increase opportunities for participation, learning, and volunteering. we will also promote and coordinate local events and programmes of activity, over the Fair weekend, that bring together a broad and diverse range of local residents within a community, heritage, cultural and (or) sporting context. We will also design and coordinate public meetings, relevant training opportunities and community events, so as to enhance the Govan Fair programme, and provide the opportunity for community members to be involved.
