Objectives and activities Our History: Established on 28th November 1953 under the name Ayr Hospitals Relay Radio, we are one of Scotland's oldest hospital radio station. We first started at Somerset Park, the home of Ayr United Football Club broadcasting football commentaries and playing mustc before the match and at half-time. In 1981, a three-and-a-half hour music programme started on Sundays. The new Ayr Hospital Opened in 1992 and the charity then moved to a new studio within the building. In 2018 we were fortunate enough to be able to purchase brand new state of the art broadcasting equipment. Our Objectives To relieve sickness, infirmity, handicap and old age amongst persons living in Ayrshire by providing a local broadcast service for Ayr, Alsia and Biggart hospitals and such other hospitals as may be require in the future. In furtherance thereof but not otherwise the association shall seek to: A. Where practical cater for radio transmissions in line with the wishes of the patients Raise funds by participation in road shows/fetes/charity events C. In addition to the foregoing activities the Association may raise funds and invite and collect contributions from any other person or persons. Strurture, governance and management -Type of governing document The Charity is governed under a formal constitution which allows for a Board of Elected Trustees to organise the activities of volunteers to meet the objectives of the organisation. The Charity has no paid employees and no remuneration is paid to Trustees. Donated facillties and services The room where the studio is located is owned by NHS Ayrshiie and Arrdn and provided free of charge for use by the Charity. Future plans We plan to further increase our number of volunteer presenters to ensure the maximum number of live broadcasts possible along with recruiting a number of station support volunteers to assist with fundraising and community engagement to raise awareness of the ability to listen to Ayr Hospital Radio out with the hospital setting. Continue to engage with Care homes and NHS GP Surgeries and Dentist surgeries to play our station. 31103/2025
