Friends of Nairn Academy Duke of Edinburgh exists to support young people of Nairnshire complete the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. The charity manages any funds to ensure young people have the required equipment to complete their expeditions, and we pay for training for volunteer leaders and expedition assessors. All longer expeditions require leaders with a Summer Mountain Leader Award which requires a training course and a six-day assessment as well as specialist First Aid qualifications. The charity also arranges and resources expedition training sessions for young people, for example, teaching first aid, navigation, campcraft and expedition planning. We also support groups with recording other parts of the Award, such as Service, Sport and Skills.
