The purpose of the Lyme Resource Centre (LRC) is... 1) The advancement of education, and 2) The advancement of health. To achieve its purpose, the LRC... 1) Educates the public on prevention of tick-bites through awareness raising activities including outdoor signage, leaflets, posters and social media campaigns. 2) Advises healthcare professionals on management of tick-borne diseases through educational webinars, web-based educational resources and continued development of online research database. 3) Informs government policy through regular meetings with Scottish Government Chief Medical Officer’s representatives. Our achievements during this financial period are listed on pages 3 and 4 of our annual accounts.

Objectives: 7.1 The SCIO's Charitable purposes will be to promote, advance and further:- 7.1.1 patient and medical profession support, dissemination of information and advocacy. 7.1.2 education, training, professional development and research, services, equipment and facilities. and 7.1.3 work with other charities working in the area in fields of medicine, veterinary and other related professions connected to the causes, diagnosis, treatment and care of Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases, including matters affecting patients, their families and others. 7.2 For the purposes of the 2005 Act the following charitable purposes are (i) particularly relevant and (ii) are the charitable purposes identified as applicable from section 7 of the 2005 Act:- 7.2.1 the advancement of education. and 7.2.2 the advancement of health. 7.3 For the purposes of the Taxes Acts the provisions set out in clauses 7.1 and 7.2 shall be read together to ensure the charitable purposes of the SCIO are compliant with the Taxes Acts.
