Optometrists were asked to nominate patients awaiting treatment on NHS who could not afford to seek treaknent privately but would benefit greauy from their treatment being carried out quKkty. Sc¢ial, financial and health uiteria were to be considered to ensure that the most vulnerable and deserving patients could benefft from the programme. This programme was opened again on 31 September 2024 aThJ a deadline of 30th November 2024 was set for the receipt of nominations. TNstees met on 6th January 2025 to discajss nominations receNed from optomety practices through Ihe'gfft of sight. programme described above. Each case was discussed to ensure each patient met the criteria set out and rf treatment was appropriate. 4 patients requiring unilateral cataract surgeries were identtt*ed. Each identffied patient received their treatment al Ayrshire Eye Clinic at no cost to them.
