The Charity is a SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) Number 5CA47728 and is administered in accordance with its Constitution.
Recruitment and appointment of Trustees
Charity Trustees are appointed at the AGM each year. Trustees are chosen from members
and those who have volunteered to assist the charity and who are considered to have appropriate interest, abilities and skills to assist in the organisation and running of the charity activities.
Objects and Activities
The charity exists to:
To provide an open, inclusive & friendly walking festival, in upper Strathearn and Perthshire, which incorporates and promotes a number of leisure activities including walking, mountain biking, historical, educational and social events and also celebrates the long history of cattle droving;
To enhance public awareness and to promote interest in the upper Strathearn area as a walking, outdoors leisure and historic destination, particularly in relation to the droving history and historical heritage of Crieff;
To bring together and train and engage a team of volunteers and supporters with a broad range of skills and experience, to organise and help run the Tryst.
Achievements and Performance
The Trustees went ahead with an ambitious 4 day event in May 2024. This was very successful with over 200 walkers participating.
We also ran First Aid and Navigation training events during the course of 2024.
The Trustees also made a donation of £1,000 to Killin Mountain rescue. This organisation offers services to the benefit of the members of, and participants in, the events organised by the Tryst.
In addition, a sum of £1,000 was donated to the Scottish Charity Air Ambulance which also offers services of relevance to our members.
Risk Management
The Trustees have considered the major risks to which the Charity is exposed and have
reviewed those risks and established and implemented a number of systems and procedures to manage those risks.
Reserves Policy
It is the trustee's policy to hold reserves. At present there is £8795.71 which is sufficient for running expenses for at least 3 more years.
Statement of Trustees' Responsibilities.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which, on request, must reflect the financial position of the Charity at that time.
This is done to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The Trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and must take reasonable steps for the prevention and/or detection of fraud or other irregularities.
