The Men of Leith Men's Shed Trustees, Report 2024-25 The Men of Leith Men's Shed enjoyed a very active year with 3111 sign-in attendances by 56 different members, an average of 60 shed visits per week. Members attend on average 4 /2 times a month but there is a wide range. Subscription records show 65 active members at the close of the financial year. In response to increased attendan and by demand on a previous survey we were able to move to 5 day opening in March thanks to several members stepping up to be Workshop Supervisors to ensure safe working. This year was also marked by a major physical development - a Lean-to extension for outdoor activity such as welding, grinding and spray painting. This was funded by a grant from the National Lottery and was built by members, with free support from a local construction company for the foundation work. Commissioned woodwork jobs have raised significantly more money than last year and have ranged from a conductor's podium, planters and garden furniture items, through leaflet and bird boxes to large partition cupboards and an enonnous Christmas tree. The Repair operation remains busy with another 200 items brought in by the local community in the past year and a repair success rate of over 90 % generating significant donations. other regular activities include alternate week lunch shed, monthly bike outings and a weekly music group evening. We held two barbecues and a Christmas lunch. Food was subsidised by a community grant awarded by public vote from "Leith Chooses". Organisationally, we developed a new business plan and on the back of that we signed a 7 year Licence to Occupy with the site owners, the Heart of Newhaven Community. This affords us significant stability as we look forwards. Ventures for the coming year include shed outings to places of interest, Tai Chi classes and open mike music sessions. We have applied for grant funding for these developments. We are also investigating fitting solar panels for green energy if grant funds permit. (Chairrrrustee) (TreaSUrerrustee) (Secretaryff rustee)
